Amina Rubinacci

Amina Rubinacci was born in Naples in the 1930s.
As the daughter of artists, she inherited a passion for thread from her mother, a skilled knitter who taught Amina the craft of needlework at a young age, and from her father, a tailor of great elegance who encouraged Amina to explore the power of her own two hands.
Amina began to knit as a hobby, “purely for the pleasure of discovering what could come out of her hands,” without any entrepreneurial ambitions. As time passed, however, her work began to grow until it became a family business. Amina’s tremendous passion for her craft, which she has always considered a “romantic” calling, enabled her to develop extraordinary skill.
Her love for fashion brought her to Paris, where she began to create pieces for all of the famous designers of her time, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior e Chanel, who dubbed her the “queen of knit.”
